Moved past yesterday's data storage look into a sleek identity built for the future of AI.
Panasas had become a trusted force in data storage. Now, VDURA needed an identity that could inspire the same confidence in the world of AI.
For twenty-five years, Panasas built its name on high-performance data storage. By 2024, the company was reaching far beyond its origins, investing in AI infrastructure and cutting-edge software that its old logos could never capture. The legacy look still spoke of hardware, but Panasas needed to reflect its transformation, without losing the trust it had spent decades earning or unsettling its loyal customers.

Through four distinct phases, the brand journeyed from its legacy hardware roots to emerge as a scalable, future-ready identity for AI infrastructure.
The discovery phase unfolded through dynamic stakeholder sessions, in-depth competitive research, and immersive moodboard exploration, revealing what should evolve and what must remain. From there, the new identity took shape around three guiding principles unique to VDURA: boldness balanced with trust, a high-performance look, and a seamless evolution from the past. These ideas became tangible: a cube for durability, liquid metal for adaptability, and speed for velocity. The outcome was a cohesive visual identity system, featuring a custom logotype that fuses angular geometry with a sense of motion, a palette of deep digital blues, graphite, and warm neutrals, and a typography system that marries structure with softness, all extended into a modular website, comprehensive brand guidelines, and collateral.

A brand that points boldly toward the future inspires trust far more quickly than one that clings only to its past.
The new identity bridged the trust Panasas had earned over twenty-five years with the promise of a future in AI infrastructure, something the old brand could not achieve. Leadership called it elevated and clear, designed for the company's next chapter, and customers responded in ways never seen before. For legacy tech companies entering new territory, the real risk is not boldness but treating a rebrand as a break rather than a natural evolution. When your offering outgrows its original category, building on the trust you've already earned and extending it forward helps you avoid alienating your loyal base while establishing credibility in your new space.
